September 24, 2024 – Kaya x AWS AI Bootcamp was a highly anticipated event that helped startup leaders and corporations develop AI and leverage the power of modern technology. It was held last September 11, 2024, at the Arthaland Century Pacific Tower. Kaya Founders, an early-stage investment firm supporting visionary entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia and the Philippines, and Amazon Web Services, a cloud computing company offering affordable, scalable, and reliable cloud computing services, hosted the event, which included sessions, workshops, and presentations.
The facilitating organizations delivered a high-quality experience for all attendees. Prior to the event, they encouraged interested companies to provide more information about their business, particularly their AI use case. This allowed the hosts to limit attendance while also ensuring that the program was suitable for everyone present. The guests learned how to use AWS’s no-code tools to create an initial MVP of an AI use case. They also collaborated with startup founders and AWS AI experts and gained useful insight on the next steps in developing AI solutions with more advanced tools.
The event went smoothly, beginning with an introduction to AI, its importance in today’s world, relevant factors to consider when implementing AI, a detailed demo on how to use PartyRock, an all-in-one platform that allows users to build AI-generated apps in a playground powered by Amazon Bedrock, and a useful exercise using PartyRock in which each group’s idea for leveraging AI was implemented. The idea presentation was one of the boot camp’s key highlights, with two Amazon Website Services representatives as judges.
There were about 10 companies and 20-25 people in total. The attendees were founders, freelance programmers, interns, Kaya partners, AWS clients, and organizations specializing in legal consultations, farmer support, men’s health supplements and products, constructions, and, GIS companies such as Webcast Technologies, Inc. (WTI).
The event concluded with the awarding of winners, with WTI earning second place. Amy Alonsabe and Zak Fonacier represented WTI, a 100% Filipino-owned information technology company known for its innovative fleet and logistics solutions. Ms. Alonsabe and Mr. Fonacier explained WTI’s Route Optimization AI project idea, which automatically arranges input drop-off sites in the most efficient and systematic order, taking into account the distance and fuel cost of each stop. Using this AI decreases operational costs and protects the environment by lowering the carbon footprint.
