WTI has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Engineering, formalizing a relationship that has been active since 2022.

The signing took place on May 29, 2026, at the Engineering Theater, Melchor Hall, UP Diliman, as part of a multi-institution MOA signing ceremony organized by the UP Office of the Associate Dean for Alumni and Institutional Linkages. The UP Diliman Chancellor, Atty. Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II, served as the university’s authorized signatory, with the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Maria Antonia N. Tanchuling, in attendance as witness. Rosa Manalo, AVP for Human Resources, represented WTI at the event.

Four Years in the Making

WTI’s engagement with the UP College of Engineering began in 2022. Since then, the company has hosted students from the Department of Industrial Engineering and the Department of Geodetic Engineering through both internship programs and capstone projects — two disciplines that closely intersect with WTI’s work in location intelligence, spatial data, and GIS-based solutions.

Capstone Research That Drives Real Product Decisions

During the 2024-2025 program, Industrial Engineering students completed a capstone project examining how WTI’s GIS tools — TACTIC and CaptureMe — could expand beyond their current retail applications and into new industries.

The study identified practical use cases across several sectors: site selection and property valuation for real estate; branch expansion and customer profiling for banking; risk assessment and insurance product development for non-banking finance; and site selection, disease outbreak mapping, and activity planning for public health.

Beyond use case mapping, the research also surfaced product improvement insights from current users. Students identified opportunities to strengthen TACTIC and CaptureMe‘s usability, feedback that feeds directly into WTI’s development roadmap.

A Partnership Built on Mutual Value

The MOA reflects WTI’s long-standing belief that industry-academe collaboration is a meaningful investment. For UP students, the partnership provides hands-on exposure to real GIS tools and live business challenges. For WTI, it brings in fresh research, unfiltered user feedback, and young talent with the technical grounding to contribute meaningfully.

The collaboration also reinforces WTI’s positioning as a leading location intelligence company that serves a growing range of industries where location data drives better decisions.
